Background
Orthopedic doctors have discovered a simpler way to use scoliometer apps, applications designed to track the curvature of the spine, for identifying scoliosis in patients. These apps empower doctors, patients, and even individuals outside of medical settings to easily learn about and measure spinal curvature independently.
Concept
The client proposed a phone gadget that attaches to the back of your phone, stabilizing the scoliometer app with a curved surface to guide the measurement of the spine smoothly. It also includes a laser for more accurate spine measurements.
Usage: The scoliometer will move to the left or the right to
match the curve of the spine
Doctor holds device, aligned on Patient starts bending down, Doctor traces the spine dow
the spine of the patient exposing the spine bone measuring the curve
Client Proposed Product Usage
When in use, the product status is as follows:
1. Open the telescopic arm and fix it on the mobile phone (long side)
2. Turn on the laser switch to assist in positioning on the spine
3. When measuring ATR, the measurement posture is as follows:
When measuring, the hand-holding posture is as follows:
Hold with both hands, thumb forward, four fingers behind to assist
4. After the measurement is completed, retract the telescopic arm and return to the initial state

Ideation
Client Inspiration Spin-Off
During the ideation process, the client suggested using wings as inspiration for a user-friendly design for the phone scoliometer. The wings would curve around the phone and extend horizontally to accommodate various sizes of handheld devices.
Client proposed bird/angel wing inspiration
